Our CPD is different – Here is how

Our courses are unique in that they require independent thought and direction.  This type of study facilitates a deeper understanding of the topic and means that learners can tailor their study to align with their specific practices, interests and professional goals.  The courses include reading and reviewing current concepts and research and drawing individual conclusions. Learners are required to reflect on their own practice and experience with the objective of reviewing their current techniques and methods and making informed adjustments if appropriate.

Your bitesize CPD includes:

  • Lessons and directed learning
  • Essential reading which is provided
  • Independent reading time for further research into the subject tailored to your specificinterests and practices
  • Discussion with classmates
  • Tasks designed to help you process and contextualise new research and information
  • Reflection

Our CPD is different – Here is why

During your original programme of study you were introduced to your profession and given the opportunity to explore current theories and concepts. You developed a good understanding of the topic as a whole and became competent in all the key areas of your trade. This fundamental training was essential to set you on your career path. But graduation day is just the beginning of your journey. Now is the time to become excellent. Now is the time to become a specialist. Now is the time to become the most up to date, informed practitioner that you possibly can. As autonomous practitioners, we owe it to the animals in our care to keep up to date so that we can make the best decisions possible for them.

Take charge of your learning and professional development – become an expert

You are responsible for the acquisition of your own knowledge and can really take your understanding to any level you choose. In the current digital age, information is readily available. With good research and independent learning skills you can become your own mentor. You can seek out information from the literature and from other professionals – you can essentially become your own tutor. Studying in this way requires higher order thinking skills which are critical, reflective, creative and logical. These courses will help you to develop the skills necessary to address complex issues and deepen your understanding of the key areas of your profession.
