Veterinary Nurse Rehabilitation Therapist / Small Animal Rehabilitation Professional Diploma
This Professional Diploma can be studied part time, alongside employment in practice. The course will equip the learner with all the skills and knowledge required to carry out rehabilitation for small animals and to start a rehabilitation clinic at their practice.
Level 3 Certificate in Veterinary Nursing OR Level 3 Certificate in Canine Hydrotherapy OR Level 3 or above in a canine musculoskeletal therapy.
Learners are expected to have a certain amount of prior knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy and general physiology of small animals. Learners will also need access to cases for course work so should be in employment or in a volunteer position at either a veterinary practice or a rehabilitation centre.
Learning delivery and time allocation
The Professional Diploma is made up of the following units:
- Foundation in Canine Exercise Rehabilitation
- Manual Therapy
- Exercise Rehabilitation for the Orthopaedic Patient
- Exercise Rehabilitation for the Neurological Patient
- Clinical Practice
- Electrophysical Agents
- Feline and Small Animal Rehabilitation
- Business and Professional Practice
All of the units are covered online aside from the manual therapy and clinical practice element which is delivered at various locations around the south of england. Learners can enrol at any time and study at their own pace. The Professional Diploma is part time and with an average study time of 10/15 hours per week, can be completed in as little as 18 months. The learning time comprises studying course material, completing tasks, carrying out further reading and own research, and completion of the assessments.
The final grade for the Professional Diploma comprises grades from the individual units along with practical assessment of clinical skills and submission of two case studies.
Outside of the clinical placement days, study is independent, however learners have access to discussion forums where they can connect with their fellow students – and this is encouraged. Learners are also assigned a tutor, who will be available for help if and when it is needed.
This course is endorsed under the quality licence scheme by two nationally, recognised awarding organisations: ABC Awards’ and Certa. This means that Justo Development has undergone external quality checks to ensure that the organisation and the courses it offers, meet certain quality criteria. The endorsement process with ABC Awards’ and Certa involves robust and rigorous quality audits by external auditors to ensure quality is continually met. A review of courses, including appropriate outcomes and benchmarking, is carried out as part of the continuing endorsement process.
Certification and CPD hours
On completion of this course, learners will receive a certificate of achievement from ABC Awards’ and Certa and a CPD certificate from us confirming final grades and 900 hours of continued professional development.
Workshop and clinical placement dates
Workshops and clinical placement days are held frequently. As the course can be studied at the learners own pace, the learner can book onto the clinical placement days at the appropriate time.
Fees and payment options:
- Payment for the Professional Diploma at enrolment is £4000 + VAT
- We accept payment for the Professional Diploma in instalments over 18 months. There is an additional administration charge of £250 + VAT for this option which is spread over the 18 months. An initial payment of £500 (non-refundable deposit) + 18 monthly payments of £255.55.
- Module by module: Each unit can be purchased at the individual price.
