Overuse Injuries

How many of the acute injuries we see in practice are really true acute injuries? Has there actually been sub clinical degradation brewing below the surface for quite some time? If this is the case, are we treating these cases correctly? If we knew they were brewing, could we avoid the apparently acute presentation from ever surfacing?

Many of the injuries we treat are caused by chronic overuse and repetitive strain. Early identification of this overuse and consequential intervention will reduce the chance of injury. Recognising the significance of overuse in the aetiology of the common injuries we see, will lead to better prevention and treatment in our daily practice.

This course will prompt you to consider these questions and encourage you to reflect and improve on your current practice.
